For Parents

Watch Your Child Become a Published Author

Imagine the look on your child’s face when they hand you a tablet or phone, scan a QR code, and say, “I made this.” The screen lights up with a book they wrote. Illustrations they drew. Their own voice narrating the story. Their name on the cover. Published.

That is the Book Crafters experience.

It’s not a dream. It’s not a distant possibility. It’s a project your child can take part in at school, and the results are something your family will treasure for years.

Confidence That Reaches Beyond the Classroom

Every parent wants their child to feel confident. To find their voice.

To know that what they think and say matters.

Book Crafters is built around that belief.

Your child won’t just complete a worksheet that gets filed away.

They will create something real – something with their name on it,

something that exists in the world for others to see, hear, and enjoy.

For children who find writing difficult, there are other ways to shine:

recording narration, designing illustrations, building soundscapes.

For children bursting with stories, this is the chance to see those stories come to life.

For children who are shy, the collaborative environment helps them find their place.

For children who love technology, this is a chance to use it creatively.

Every child finds their role. Every child contributes.

Every child finishes with a genuine sense of achievement.

Skills That Prepare Them for the Future

We often talk about preparing children for a world we can't yet imagine. But we know one thing for certain: the future will belong to creators, communicators, and problem-solvers. Book Crafters builds exactly those skills.

Your Child Will Learn To:

“These aren’t just classroom skills.

These are life skills.

And they look great on a secondary school application

or in a future interview.”

Evidence of Impact Across Every Inspection Judgement

A Multi-Sensory Approach That Reaches Every Child

Does your child struggle with handwriting? Find spelling frustrating? Lose motivation when faced with a blank page?

Book Crafters removes those barriers.

Children can tell stories through drawing, through voice, through sound effects, through collaboration. The project is designed with inclusion at its heart. For children with dyslexia, recording an audiobook bypasses the frustration of spelling. For children who are artists, illustration becomes their entry point. For children who are natural performers, voice acting gives them a stage.

Every child’s strengths are celebrated. Every child’s challenges are supported. And every child finishes with a published creation they can be proud of.

Mental Health and Emotional Expression

Children carry worries. Sometimes they don’t have the words to explain how they feel. Sometimes they need a safe way to explore big emotions.

Storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have for that.

Through Book Crafters, children create characters who face challenges, solve problems, and grow. Along the way, they explore themes like friendship, resilience, identity, and empathy. They process feelings in a safe, creative space. And they do it alongside supportive classmates and a teacher who guides them every step of the way.

This isn’t just a literacy project. It’s a wellbeing project too.

A Family Moment to Cherish

The culmination of Book Crafters is a celebration: the Book Premiere.

Your child will invite you to an event where their work is showcased. You’ll see the illustrations. You’ll hear the narrations. You’ll scan QR codes that take you directly to published e-books and audiobooks your child helped create.

It’s a moment of pure pride. A moment where you see your child not just as a student, but as a creator. As an author.

And because the books are digital, you can share them. Send the link to grandparents. Post it (with pride) to family chat groups. Keep it on your phone to show friends. Your child’s work becomes something the whole family celebrates.

What Parents Are Saying

“My daughter has always been creative, but seeing her illustrations turned into a real digital book was something else. She carries the QR code in her school bag. She shows everyone. It’s given her a confidence I’ve never seen before.”

David Jacobs

Parent of Year 4 Child

“My son has dyslexia and has always hated writing. When he came home and told me he was the ‘sound director’ for his group’s audiobook, I was curious. When I heard his voice introducing the story at the Book Premiere, I cried. He was so proud. We still listen to it together.”

Parent of Year 5 Child

“I wasn’t sure how the technology would work, but my child came home excited every week. She taught me how to use Canva! The final book was beautiful. Honestly, it’s the best school project we’ve ever been involved with.”

A Gift That Lasts

When your child finishes Book Crafters, they don’t just bring home a grade. They bring home a published book they helped create. An audiobook featuring their voice. An interactive app that showcases their work.

These aren’t projects that get lost in a drawer. They are digital keepsakes that can be revisited again and again. They are proof-tangible, shareable proof-of what your child can achieve.

And long after the project ends, the confidence, the skills, and the pride remain.

How You Can Support at Home

You don’t need to be a tech expert or a writer yourself.

But there are simple ways you can be part of the journey:

Talk about the story.

Ask your child what their book is about. Who are the characters ? What happens ?

Celebrate the milestones

When the writing is finished. When the illustrations are done. When the narration is recorded. Each step is worth celebrating.

Help with sound effects

A rain stick made from dried rice in a container. Footsteps on gravel. Rustling leaves. Simple sounds bring stories to life.

Attend the Book Premiere

Mark the date in your calendar. Your presence matters more than you know.
